چکیده

We propose a photonic quantum simulator for anti-ferromagnetic spin systems based on reservoir engineering. consider scheme where quadratically driven dissipative Kerr cavities are indirectly coupled via lossy ancillary cavities. show that the can produce an effective and Hamiltonian anti-ferromagnetic-like coupling between By solving master equation triangular cavity configuration, we demonstrate non-equilibrium steady state of system bears full analogy with ground antiferromagnetic Ising model, exhibiting key signatures frustration. when photon hopping amplitude is zero, engineered non-local dissipation alone capable inducing interaction This simple be generalised to arbitrary lattice geometries, providing fully controllable recipe simulating antiferromagnetism frustration controlled optical platform.

Photonic molecules formed by coupled hybrid resonators.

We describe a method that enables free-standing whispering-gallery-mode microresonators, and report spectral tuning of photonic molecules formed by coupled free and on-chip resonators with different geometries and materials. We study direct coupling via evanescent fields of free silica microtoroids and microspheres with on-chip polymer coated silica microtoroids. We demonstrate thermal tuning o...

Semiclassical Coupled Wave Theory for 1d Photonic Crystals with Dissipation

We show that a modified form of the semiclassical coupled wave theory gives a reliable description of wave propagation in a 1D photonic crystal with complex refractive index. The key idea of the theory remains the same: to include both variable amplitudes and variable (geometric-optics) phases in the counterpropagating coupled waves within the photonic crystal. Here, however, the phases become ...

Photonic Crystals and Resonators

In recent years, artificial optical materials and structures enabled the observation of various new optical effects and experiments. For example, photonic crystals are able to inhibit the propagation of certain light frequencies and provide the unique ability to guide light around very tight bends and along narrow channels. On the other hand, the high field strengths in optical microresonators ...

Photonic lattice simulation of dissipation-induced correlations in bosonic systems

We propose an optical simulation of dissipation-induced correlations in one-dimensional (1D) interacting bosonic systems, using a two-dimensional (2D) array of linear photonic waveguides and only classical light. We show that for the case of two bosons in a 1D lattice, one can simulate on-site two-body dissipative dynamics using a linear 2D waveguide array with lossy diagonal waveguides. The in...

Intrinsic dissipation in high-frequency micromechanical resonators

We report measurements of intrinsic dissipation in micron-sized suspended resonators machined from single crystals of galium arsenide and silicon. In these experiments on high-frequency micromechanical resonators, designed to understand intrinsic mechanisms of dissipation, we explore dependence of dissipation on temperature, magnetic field, frequency, and size. In contrast to most of the previo...
